1.            Explain MIS approach to Industry production system.

Answer: MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Definition

"An integrated user-machine system for providing information to support operations, management and decision making functions in an organization. The system utilizes computerized and manual procedures; models for analysis, planning, control and decision making; and a database."

MIS principal concerns

Facilitate decision making by supplying the information needed in an up-to-date and accurate form

·         on time
·         in a usable form





2.            Discuss planning and implementing of MIS for production.

Answer: Many organizations have purchased computers for data processing and for meeting the statutory requirements of filing the returns and reports to the Government. Computers are used mainly for computing and accounting the business transactions and have not been considered as a tool for information processing. The organizations have invested on computers and expanded its use by adding more or bigger computers to take care




3.            Describe MIS applications in service industry.

Answer: In the manufacturing sector, physical goods are to be manufactured for the customer, but this is not the case in the service sector. Unlike the manufacturing sector, the service sector does not involve any manufacturing of the physical goods for the customer. So now it can be said that the Management Information Systems that are generally used in the manufacturing and the selling organization cannot be used in the service sector.

Answer: Businesses need to respond quickly to changes to remain competitive, and Management Information Systems provide managers with critical data to make sound business decisions. A miscommunication could spell disaster and mean the difference between a profit and a loss. Companies rely on MIS for data about inventory levels, human resources, finances and other relevant information they deem critical to their success. MIS is particularly important for large organizations with global operations.
