Question.1. What is meant by ‘organizing’? Explain the need for organizing. Discuss the role ofTop Management in Organizing for Quality Management.


Answer:Organising is a step-by-step process. At each step, an important task is performed by the administrators working at the top-level of management.

While organising, the top managers carry out following important tasks:-

In this general eight-stepped process, the top management first fixes the common objectives of the organisation.
In the second step, they (top management) identify all the activities (i.e. works or jobs) which are required to achieve these predefined objectives.
In the third step, they group similar (related) activities and make their individual departments.
In the fourth step, they define the responsibilities (duties) of all the staff members (employees and managers).




Question.2 Define the term ‘Leadership’. Describe the major leadership theories.

Answer: Leadership is both a research area and a practical skill, regarding the ability of an individual or organization to "lead" or guide other individuals, teams, or entire organizations. Controversial viewpoints are present in the literature, among Eastern and Western approaches to leadership, and also within the West, on US vs. European approaches. In US academic environments leadership is defined as "a process of social influence in which a person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task".

The Trait Theory of Leadership: The search for the characteristics or traits of effective leaders has been central to the study of leadership. Underlying this research is the assumption that leadership capabilities are rooted in characteristics possessed by individuals. Research in the field of trait theory has shown significant positive relationships



Question.3.Explain - Rewards and recognition programs are the important component of anyTQM program.


Answer:Rewards and recognition are considered powerful tools, which are used by an organization to motivate its employees.

Rewards and recognition are remuneration based systems, which include bonus, perks, allowances and certificates.

Question.4 Define performance measurement. Explain why it is needed for an organization?

Answer:Performance measurement is the process of collecting, analyzing and/or reporting information regarding the performance of an individual, group, organization, system or component. It can involve studying processes/strategies within organizations, or studying engineering processes/parameters/phenomena, to see whether output are in line with what was intended or should have been achieved.

Answer:To successfully react to windows of opportunity, regardless of the focus — innovation, growth, culture, cost structure, technology — a new methodology of change leadership is required.
